I am a PBS Think TV supporter. Each year I donate a custom designed gown to be auctioned during their week long fundraiser in April. I’m only mentioning this, because that is how I came to know Katie. Katie was the high bidder and I was able to design her wedding gown for her 2015 wedding.
The design process for Katie was joyful. Each time we met, there was laughter and silliness with Katie and her mom. I truly admire the relationship they share.
Katie wanted a romantic lacy gown. With the wedding in June, she also wanted it to look light and airy. To accomplish this, I used silk organza for the “under dress” with a Chantilly lace over lay.
The edges of the Chantilly were trimmed with Alencon lace. Then beaded it, of course. We beaded her veil too!
Also, always willing to add an extra personal touch with the embroidered patch sewn into her dress!
I also had the pleasure of designing her mom’s wedding outfit. Typical of most mothers of the bride, Kay didn’t want to fuss about herself. She wanted all the focus to be on Katie. Katie wanted to make sure her mom felt fabulous. I made them both happy.
It is clear from these pictures they all had a great time while looking fabulous.
